The clarity of a diamond refers to the numbers of flaws or imperfections within the stone. It is extremely rare for a diamond to be entirely flawless, and therefore the better the clarity the more precious the diamond.
Diamond clarity ratings are based on the type, position, size and number of inclusions in the diamond. The rarest has clarity ratings of FL (Flawless) or IF (Internally Flawless).
Clarity ratings of VVS1 or VVS2 are still considered excellent and are virtually flawless. It would be impossible to view any possible imperfections with the naked eye.
Clarity ratings of either VS1 or VS2 are also still considered to be of an exceptional clarity for a diamond. It would be extremely unlikely that the inclusions would be seen with the naked eye.
Diamonds with a clarity rating of below SI1 (Slightly Included) are not considered by us to be of an acceptable quality and therefore do not feature on iwantdiamonds.com
